Long gold pendants are a hot new trend in the world of jewellery, according to one expert.

Cynthia Sliwa of JCK notes that large, heavy pendants on very long chains are being seen in a number of magazines at the moment.

Publications such as InStyle, Elle and Harper's Bazaar all feature long pendants in their August issues, with stars including Ashley Greene and Cameron Diaz pictured wearing this type of jewellery.

Ms Sliwa also highlights the August issue of Marie Claire, which shows a model wearing a gold pendant that goes down to below the waist, and comments on the fact that Julia Roberts was seen wearing a long vintage Van Cleef and Arpels necklace at the Golden Globes earlier this year.

"Pendants are back - and not only delicate pendants on fine chains worn in multiples around the neck," she says.

The writer explored this latter trend of wearing several gold pendants of varying lengths at the same time in June.

She noted that the May 2010 issue of Lucky featured Hilary Duff wearing three gold necklaces by Ninh Wysocan and L Frank.
