Rising Gold Prices to Boost Mining Stocks
Thursday, 7/22/2010, 6:22
Mike Niehuser: It would appear that the market may become less efficient, not more. Small investors have a bad taste in their mouth and computerized trading by institutions suggests stocks are being influenced by factors that aren't company-specific. It is not clear what the market will identify in an individual company stock that will lead to a full valuation. If metal prices appreciate rapidly, the market may look for exploration upside. If metal prices are flat and investors more defensive in looking for value, they may want production and cash flow, or improving balance sheet fundamentals.
Malflation UK
Thursday, 7/22/2010, 6:21
Malflation – I contend that there has already been a real money deflation that has been hidden by a faulty measure of the money supply (Note and Coins plus M4 in the UK). "Money Actual" shows it exactly. There is now a real money inflation. So what we have now is money inflation and price inflation happening in step. This is different from a Keynesian money inflation, which with the "output gap" should be causing no inflation. It is also different from a monetarist money inflation as there is no rising unemployment and a stagnating or a stagflation-mired economy.
